Arachidonic Acid is a polyunsaturated fat that plays a role in the growth and repair of skeletal muscle tissue and is an essential component in the muscle hypertrophy process. Enhanced Arachidonic Acid helps to maintain the hippocampal cell membrane fluidity, protects the brain from oxidative stress, and may help boost testosterone levels and muscle growth, as well as supporting faster recovery post workout.
What Does Arachidonic Acid Do?
When we lift weights and our muscles are stressed and damaged, the muscle cells signal enzymes to flock to the damaged tissue to free arachidonic acid from the intercellular membranes. The freed arachidonic acid is then used to create localized enzymes called prostaglandins which regulate the inflammation processes that stimulate muscle growth. These are the same enzymes that cause the inflammation, pain, and soreness you feel post workout.
